Professional Mentor
Mr. Mark Andresen- Principal Mandan High School
Mr. Andresen and I had the opportunity to meet twice. In our meetings, I got an extensive feel of what a school administrator deals with daily in terms of budgetary concerns and basic day to day operations of a school. In addition to our first meeting, I also had the opportunity to sit in on a meeting with fellow administrator's. This meeting included several things regarding administration of the schools in the district. Most notably I got a firsthand look into the planning of professional development inside the Mandan Public School District. It was very nice to hear the thoughts of an outstanding administrator on the work he does in the profession. I certainly gained a newfound appreciation for school leaders.
Faculty Mentor
Dr. Jeffery Lind- Associate Professor Liffrig School of Education and Behavioral Sciences
Dr. Lind was my faculty mentor. As part of this relationship he was primarily responsible for connecting me with my professional mentor. In addition, we also got the chance to chat about topics in the field of education. It was very enlightening getting to hear from someone with the amount of experience as Dr. Lind. He exemplified great poise and communication skills, two critical skills for any prospective leader. it was also really nice to talk with Dr. Lind as he has experience as an Assistant Superintendent and experience at the university level both privately and publicly.
